Catrín & Catrina Contest Information
Step into tradition and celebrate the artistry of Día de los Muertos at our Catrín & Catrina Contest! This is your chance to honor one of the holiday’s most iconic symbols while showcasing creativity and cultural pride.
Whether you arrive as a beautiful Catrina or a dashing Catrín, this contest is about more than style, it’s about celebrating life, memory, and tradition.
Categories & Prizes
Must be at least 5 years old to participate.
- 14 & under: Male (Catrín)
- 14 & under: Female (Catrina)
- 15 & older: Male (Catrín)
- 15 & older: Female (Catrina)
A gift basket will be awarded to the Best Catrín & Best Catrina in each age group.
Timeline
- Registration Deadline: Friday, October 17, 2025, by 5:00 PM
- Check-in: No later than 1:00 PM at the City Booth on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
- Judging: 2:00 PM
- Awards Ceremony: TBD
Contest Rules
- Makeup Required: No face masks. Faces must be painted.
- Dress Code: Must be Catrin/a-inspired attire.
- No casual wear, street clothes, or generic Halloween costumes.
- Contestants must arrive fully dressed and ready. No dressing facilities will be available.
- Contestants will be judged on makeup, attire, originality, and creativity.
- Family-Friendly Event:
- Costumes must be respectful of Día de los Muertos traditions.
- No gore, graphic violence, nudity, swearing, or offensive imagery.
- Outfits should not mock the holiday or include inappropriate symbols.
- No dangerous items (weapons, sharp objects, open flames).
- Props (umbrellas, fans, hats) are allowed if safe and manageable on stage.
- Presence Required: Winners must be present, in full makeup and costume, to receive prizes.
- Minors (under 17) must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
