Experience an exciting journey through Mexico’s colorful traditions! Dancers will learn basic steps, skirt movements, partner work, and choreography while exploring the meaning and history behind each regional dance. This upbeat class helps students grow in confidence, teamwork, and cultural appreciation. Perfect for beginners and returning dancers.
All registered participants will attend on the first day of session and the dance director will conduct an assessment and assign a class day based on skill level (beginner or intermediate). Information on dance shoes, practice skirts, etc. will be provided at the first official class meeting.
Class is taught by Francisco Javier Verdin, co-director of Ballet Folklorico Ollin Dance Company. With over 40 years of experience in the industry, Mr. Verdin has been bringing dance and culture to life through his community classes at Las Palmas Park for over 30 years.
Optional Performances
Students may be invited to participate in performances throughout the session. Participation in is not guaranteed and will depend on class attendance, readiness, and dance director assessment and approval. Refunds will not be issued for non-selection.
